     CupCakes

    Pink icing
        nice and soft
                                                       swirling patterns
      Rainbow sprinkles
Sweet to eat as a treat
And nice as ice still frozen.
             Vanilla and chocolate under
         The cupcakes are creamy
           Colorful and delicious too
           A Tasty treat.I like them
             With fanciest frostings.
             The cupcakes make
                me happy and glad.

Pizza
Warm and gooey
With pepperoni. And I sometimes
Wish I could have it all the time
Doesn't make me sick
But be careful not to get burns,
Thick crust is what I like most

No pineapples I hate them

Here are a few pictures of the bird feeders you made on Friday and over the weekend!  I can't wait to see more of these.  You and your families are so creative!  I love how brothers and sisters got involved as well.  There are going to be some very happy birds out there :)

Acrostic poems written by Room 16

Here are a few of the Acrostic Poems that were turned in this week. These are definitely something to celebrate. You are all amazing!!

Basketball
By Charles

Best sport ever!!!!
Also it makes me sweat a lot.
Sometimes the basketball players get hurt.
Kind of my hobby to play but I can't because of COVID-19
Easy to learn how to play it
The ball kind of bounces a lot but that’s ok
Basketball is the most popular sport to me
And it is my favorite game!!!!!!!!!!
Let us all learn basketball together.
Love this sport!

Cartoons
By: Noah

Crazy funny
Absolutely entertaining to watch
Roars with irony
The Simpsons is one of my favourites

Once upon a time is the way many stories start
Not all cartoons  are bad
Super awesome

Monday April 13th Google Meet times this week

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a restful Easter long weekend!

If you haven't done so already, please accept the invitation to join google classroom using your child's educbe.ca email.  Everyone should have received theirs in an email from me last week.  This learning platform will work in a very similar way to how the blog was used last week. I will post assignments and students can work through them at their own pace. There is no expectation for students to be at the computer at a particular time, other than for our brief google meet sessions once or twice a week (see below).

If you need any help, please feel free to email me.
This week we will also be having our first Google Meet! Our class will come together for about 20 minutes to try out Google Meet and have the opportunity to see one another. There will be two opportunities to partake, but you only need to try and come to one. If you can't make it this time, don't worry there will be other opportunities and I hope to see you in future Meets!

Testing the Technology:   April 15th at 11:00am and/or April 16th at 1:00pm

When we are ready to meet on April 15th at 11:00am and April 16th at 1:00pm you will click on Meet link on our Google Classroom page.  Once you click the link, it will open up Google Meet (you must be signed into your child's Google account to be able to join).  You will then click Join now and will be part of our Google Meet!

Happy Easter everyone!!Image result for easter bunny images

****Please copy and paste the link below into your google browser to see an important parent message about google meet!  I will also be emailing the parents today with your child's email and password which they will need to access our Google classroom.  Once students have joined Google Classroom I will send out another email to set up a time with you to have a technology testing meeting.  In the meantime, enjoy the tasks for today!  I look at every assignment I receive back from you.  It makes me feel like we are still all together in Room 16!  I miss you all!!

Assignments for Thursday, April 9th

MATH TASK

  Build a 3D Monster

Make a 3D monster out of anything that you have lying around the house
(maybe check out your recycling box). Then draw a picture of your monster and label the different shapes.
Build it over the long weekend and take a photo when you are done.
You may want to glue it together or fasten it with tape, or just leave it freestanding.
If you are able, maybe you can paint it and add some details.
If you can’t make it out of recycling, don’t worry!
Maybe you can use Lego, building blocks, natural items from your backyard or even snow!
If you can’t find anything to build with then just draw me a picture and label the different shapes.
Be creative and have fun!

LITERACY TASK

Wow! You guys are getting really good at this whole inferencing thing!
We have done lots of practice making inferences from pictures.
I loved what you thought that naughty dog was up to and your ideas
about the frog and toad were great!
In fact, they were so good I have to wait until
Monday now to tell you the true story of the frog and toad
because I want to hear more about what you are thinking!!
It’s a lot of fun getting to hear your inferences and ideas.

Pick one of the five pictures we have looked at this week
(The baby and Santa, the baseball team, the man on the phone, the dog, or the frog and toad)
and write a little story about what you think is happening in the picture.
Don’t forget to plan out your ideas first and use an interesting beginning!
It doesn’t need to be a long story, even one page about what you think is happening is great.

You can type it in google docs and share it with me: fanayyar@educbe.ca .
or write it with a pencil and paper and send me a picture.

I can’t wait to read them all!!
