Fun lunch tomorrow for those who ordered.

We acknowledged Pink Shirt day today.  The grade twos put on a wonderful assembly that highlighted the importance of being kind.  Ask your child about the book Chrysanthemum by Keven Henkes. Then ask them why the hearts on the bulletin board, in the photo below, are so wrinkled.

In math, we solved word problems that involved fractions and we also came up with our own word problems.  We also ordered fractions from smallest to biggest.

In science, we researched where gorilla's live and different facts about gorillas.

In gym, we continued with our dancing unit.  We learned about big spaces and small spaces.

We continued to do descriptive writing in writer's workshop.  As a class, we described a fancy water bottle together.  Can you picture the following description of the water bottle in your minds?

Help!  Friesja in room 16 has lost her beautiful water bottle that she has owned for three years.  It is a big silver bottle that measures 27 1/2cm tall.  It is as shiny as a diamond.  There is a fun picture on the front.  It is of a brown sloth with a white face and black eyes.  The sloth is sitting in the middle of twelve tall green leaves with colorful flowers.  It is a MANNA bottle. Please help Friesja find her missing water bottle!

Field Trip Tomorrow

Field Trip to Glenbow Museum is tomorrow.  Students will need a lunch, snack and water bottle.  We will not be bringing our backpacks with us to the museum.

Could I have my wonderful parent volunteers come in around 8:55am for a brief orientation.  Thank you!  Also, it may be a good idea to wear good walking shoes rather than winter boots.

Ask your child about their first snowshoeing lesson today in gym.  Also, ask them to describe how area and perimeter are different.
